Taking a Trip Out to Palmdale, California?

4 Great attractions in Palmdale

Palmdale has been one of the top 25 fastest growing cities in the country for over two decades. It is among the largest cities to not have a main highway or interstate within its limits, and its location is unbeatable. Only 2 hours from the wine country of Santa Barbara, an hour from the city of Los Angeles, and about an hour and a half from the beach, you find yourself in driving distance of many great attractions, without the hustle and bustle of city life and freeways. Here is a list of some great attractions in Palmdale and the surrounding Los Angeles County.

  1. The Devil's Punchbowl: This sandstone formation at 4,750 ft elevation is considered a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. This natural preserve contains a state park and plays host to many different plants and animals. Most of the animals here are nocturnal and rarely seen. Hiking trails that reach to the Andreas Fault are abundant, and there are viewings of all the meteor showers of each year. This makes for a great day trip with the family, or a romantic night for just two.
  2. Golf: There are two regulation golf courses in Palmdale. Rancho Vista is an 18-hole course with a medium-length layout. For something a little shorter, and a bit easier, try Desert Aire, a 9-hole course nearby. Both have beautiful greens and host beginners as well as advanced golfers.
  3. Hart's Park: "Two Gun Bill" was a cowboy in many silent movies many decades ago. William S. Hart owned a 260-acre ranch in Palmdale that is now open to the public. Hart's Park was donated to the public a few years ago, and is now a great place to spend an afternoon outside any time of the year.
  4. Palmdale Playhouse: This little theater hosts many different shows throughout the year. From The Christmas Story in December to symphony orchestras, to various plays, you are sure to find something that suits your fancy any time of the year.
Enjoy your stay in Palmdale!
