Best Tourist Attractions in San Diego

Tourism is one of San Diego's biggest industries, and it's easy to see why. Thousands of people pour into this Southern California city year-round. Perfect weather twelve months a year makes for a great time, whether you're sightseeing or playing in one of San Diego's many beautiful beaches. Here are some of the best tourist attractions that you can't miss next time you visit!

Sea World

This world-famous theme park is a must see if you have kids or if you simply love sea life. Sea World is a feast for the eyes and the senses. It has some of the biggest aquariums in the state, replete with colorful sea creatures and plants. There are exhilarating water themed rides and incredible animal shows. Nothing like seeing a huge killer whale leap into the air right before your eyes.

The Harbor

The San Diego Harbor is not only a great place to walk along, it's also the home of the Maritime Museum, which comprises four historic sea vessels. These include: the topsail schooner "California", the world-famous "Star of India", the 18th century Royal Navy frigate "HMS Surprise" (which was featured in the movie Master and Commander), and an authentic Cold War Soviet submarine. All of this within walking distance of downtown and the shops of Sea Port village.

Party at the Gaslamp

For more adult fun, visit the Gaslamp District. A colorful and historic part of Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp has some of the best bars and dance clubs in the city. Sports bars, cocktail lounges, salsa dancing venues, the Gaslamp has it all. It's a great place for both singles and couples and it's perfect for unwinding after a long trip.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park is a 1,200 acre urban/cultural center. It contains 10 world renowned museums that host incredible collections of art and science exhibits year round, nine botanical gardens, a playhouse with a replica of Shakespeare's Old Globe Theatre, the San Diego Zoo, and plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you busy. It's also great to just stroll through the main promenade, enjoying the revival architecture and public artwork.

Torrey Pines State Reserve

For the outdoorsman, a hike in the Torrey Pines State Reserve is a must. It's a pleasant climb through the park, and hikers are rewarded with some of the most spectacular views of the Pacific Coast anywhere.
