You might see a picture of something you want, but then in the notes, the seller has listed that certain items are missing, etc. The bid will vary depending on what others have bid. You can bid the minimum or bid the maximum amount you are willing to pay. If you bid more, it will not show up on the website, but if someone were to bid after you, eBay would raise your bid for you based on what your maximum amount is. If no one bids, you only pay the minimum bid.

3. Pay for your purchase. Once you win, you must pay for the item you won. The safest payment method (and sometimes the only one allowed by the seller) is through Paypal. It's easy to set up an account on Paypal. Basically, what they do is almost instantly transfer the money safely from the buyer's account to the seller's without giving out any personal information to either parties.
